Short-eared Owl
Scarce winter visitors to Korea. A fortuitous encounter: the bird above flew in and perched nearby while I was sitting on the ground with my back to a tussock in a small valley north of Seoul. The owl below was in a rice field near Incheon, so well camouflaged that I almost walked right up to her. I kept what distance remained, took a photo, and left her there, still half-awake.
