On the purely anecdotal level, I’ve noticed a northward expansion of this handsome species over the years—a phenomenon mirrored by numerous species as the climate warms. As this photo suggests, Blue Grosbeaks like to sit on elevated (but not too elevated) perches and sing their territorial bona fides.
