Black-throated Blue warbler

Near Philadelphia.

A May morning: this fellow made his presence known by singing his buzzy, drawling song from a tangle of brush and fallen trees down near the railroad tracks. This species can often be found at somewhat lower levels than many of his tree-top-feeding cousins in the warbler family, and can also be relatively bold and inquisitive: both characteristics leading to this welcome encounter.
